Solar Eclipse | Occurs when the Earth passes into the shadow of the Moon. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is close enough to completely block the Sun's light. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is farther away and is not able to completely block the light. This results in a ring of light around the Moon. |

Star Diagonal |

|
Sunspot | A region on the Sun’s photosphere that is cooler (and thus darker) than the surrounding material. Sunspots often appear in pairs or groups with specific magnetic polarities |
Supernova | The death explosion of a massive star, resulting in a sharp increase in brightness which can outshine an entire galaxy - followed by a gradual fading. The outer layers of the exploding star are blasted out and form a big cloud. This expanding cloud, visible long after the initial explosion fades from view, forms a supernova remnant. |
